TREF - Loop to the Moon Bijna vijf jaar na het verschijnen van hun debuut 'Accordéon Diatonique' , een plaat die de Klara Publieksprijs won in 2002, staat Tref er terug! Wim Claeys en Didier Laloy, twee van België's topaccordeonisten en hun percussiekompaan Frédéric Malempré leveren met 'Loop to the Moon' een tweede bruisende album af en zijn klaar om hun nieuwe programma voor te stellen. De ingeslagen weg wordt vervolgd. Met hun swingende samenspel loodsen zij het publiek van de ene emotie naar de andere: van groovy ethno-ritmes tot ontroerende ballades. Met Loop to the Moon brengen ze vooral hun eigen composities. Stuk voor stuk werken waarbij de dialoog tussen de twee accordeons centraal staat. Moderator van dienst: Malempre met zijn onnavolgbare world-percussion. En ook nu ontbreekt hun geheime ingrediënt niet: de pittige humor waarmee Claeys en Laloy hun nummers omkaderen. Folkworld.de Tref are Wim Claeys (Ambrozijn, Göze, Boombal), Didier Laloy (S-Tres, Trio Trad, Panta Rhei,...) plus the odd non-accordionist which is Frédéric Malempré on percussion and berimbeau. The music of Tref is pan European, taking a lot of inspiration in Sweden and Norway (where quite a few of their tunes have their origin), along to the influences from France, Flanders and wherever... Whoever thinks accordions is boring, get this album, and you will change your mind. Tref's music is inspiring; it is in no way an accordion orchestra sound, but innovative modern and lively folk music. It is really fun to listen to this CD, a wonderful collection of tunes (trad, self composed and by other musicians) played in a delightful way. The musicians show not only in their music a sense of humour; their sleeve notes are a wonderful funny mixture of Flemish and French. A lot of talent, atmosphere and taste - I loved this album.
